Johnny Rotten

$799.00

Oil on wood slice, approx 12” in diameter.

I bought the Sex Pistols single “God Save the Queen” in 1977. I used it for a costume design contest at the famous disco Tubaki House in Tokyo. I won the grand prize! Free admission for a year. I was working at a hair salon at the time, making minimum wage. I had no idea who the Sex Pistols were. Soon after I arrived in NYC, I watched a movie called “DOA” every Saturday at midnight for 3 months. I dropped acid and went to the movie then went to clubs. DOA is a document from the Sex Pistols’ US tour. I was obsessed with Johnny Rotten. Everything about them was cool. I still love them. The Sex Pistols are my favorite band of all time.
