What can I say about Freddie Mercury? I entirely missed Queen in the 70s. I heard a few hit songs, but they didn't stick. Then I saw “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” on MTV. It was shockingly gay. I mean the West Village gay. I loved his look. Later he added a mustache! I am not gay but I was adapted to the gay community when I stumbled into the NY scene. I love that look. Anyway, I rediscovered Queen in the early 80s. We all went through the mid 80s - 90s of the AIDS epidemic. It left us with deep scars in our hearts. Every time I watch him sing, I still feel his powerful uplifting emotions. It's like he is saying “Keep on going forward.”
